Supports urinary tract health!
Cranberry has typically been used to treat urinary tract infections and current research shows it is effective in supporting a healthy urinary tract. Typical symptoms of urinary tract infections are: painful urination, pain in bladder and lower back, fever, abdominal pain and frequent urination. Cranberries may also help inhibit tooth decay partly through the same mechanism that they improve urinary tract health.
Past studies have shown that cranberries improve the health of the urinary tract by stopping E. Coli, the bacteria responsible for urinary tract infections, from sticking to urinary tract lining. In a current study, researchers have determined that cranberries may act the same way in the mouth with plaque-forming bacteria.
Bacteria like Streptococcus mutans use adhesion molecules to stick to tooth enamel. Streptococcus mutans promotes cavity formation after it consumes sugars in the mouth and then excretes acids that cause dental decay. Oral biologist Hyun (Michel) Koo, D.D.S., Ph.D. at the University of Rochester Medical Center discovered that cranberry juice stops the cavity-causing bacteria Streptococcus mutans from clinging to tooth surfaces.
Dosage:
Three capsules per day with meals.
